— Misean/Mission

Bunaíodh Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta sa bhliain 2000, chun comhairle agus tacaíocht a thabhairt don Roinn Oideachais agus d'institiúidí oideachais eile maidir lena ndualgais i leith na Gaelscolaíochta. Eascraíonn na hoibleagáidí sin ón Ordú Oideachais (Tuaisceart Éireann), 1998 ina ndeirtear 'beidh sé de dhualgas ar an Roinn forbairt na Gaelscolaíochta a spreagadh agus a éascú.' .

Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta (The Council for Irish-medium Education) was established in 2000, to advise and support the Department of Education and other educational institutions on their obligations towards Irish-medium education (IME). These obligations emanate from the Education (Northern Ireland) Order, 1998 which states that ‘it shall be the duty of the Department to encourage and facilitate the development of Irish-medium education.’

Cén dóigh a ndéanann muid seo?

How do we do this?

Ionadaíocht & Abhcóideacht

Déanann CnaG abhcóideacht agus ionadaíocht thar ceann na Gaelscolaíochta, lena chinntiú go mbeidh na deiseanna céanna ag páistí atá ag freastal ar Ghaelscoileanna, lena gcomhghleacaithe Béarla, lena n-áirítear cóiríocht, soláthar acmhainní teagaisc agus foghlama; Riachtanais Speisialta Oideachais agus soláthar múinteoirí. Leis sin, foilsíonn muid taighde ar ábhair thábhachtacha agus déanann muid stócaireacht ar pholaiteoirí áitiúla ar son earnáil na Gaelscolaíochta.

Amseoidh tú taighde na Comhairle anseo.

Comhairle

Tugaimid comhairle agus tacaímid le pobail ar spéis leo Gaelscoileanna nua a bhunú agus déanaimid ár ndícheall a chinntiú go mbeidh rochtain ag páistí ar Ghaelscolaíocht d’ardchaighdeán ag leibhéal na réamhscoile, na bunscoile agus na hiarbhunscoile.

Más suim leat foghlaim níos mó faoi stair na Gaelscolaíochta nó soláthar a bhunú i do phobal áitiúil, brú anseo.

Representation & Advocacy

CnaG provides advocacy and representation on behalf of Irish-medium education to ensure that children attending IM schools have the same opportunities as their English-medium counterparts, including accommodation, provision of teaching and learning resources, Special Educational Needs provision and supply of teachers. We also produce extensive research on a wide range of relevant issues and lobby local political representatives on behalf of the IM sector.

You can find Comhairle’s research here.

Advice

We advise and support communities who are interested in establishing new Irish-medium schools and endeavour to ensure that children have access to high quality Irish-medium education at pre-school, primary and post-primary level.

Cá bhfaigheann muid ár maoiniú?

From where do we receive our funding?

Faigheann Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta croídheontas ón Roinn Oideachais do thuarastail foirne, costais riaracháin agus cur i bhfeidhm plean bliantúil.

Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta receives a core grant from the Department of Education for staff salaries, administration costs and the implementation of an annual plan.

Oibrímid go dlúth le COGG agus Foras na Gaeilge freisin, ar sholáthar maoinithe do thionscadail aonair, agus muid faoi chomaoin acu.

We also work closely with COGG and Foras na Gaeilge who have kindly provided funding for individual projects.
